Its complicated! But ModUnlock makes it that little bit easier

Common Questions you see on face book are “How do I enable the the trip computer? , I’ve added heated seats, how do i make them work?”

There are various ways to go about this. Most are out of reach of Joe blogs like us, they might involve removing the CEM and using BDM device or SMOK to edit the CEM config. Very specialist stuff.

The alternatives are of course, get Volvo to do it (but they are pretty infelxible) or use Vdash (see www.d5t5.com).

Vdash can be used to make changes to the cars configuration and help activate retrofitted hardware as well as backup and clone modules and much much more.

However!….The CEM is locked! You cant change the config! Vdash cant change the config…so whats the Deal Yo ?

You need to get the CEM unlocked first. How this is done varies by platform of course, so here is a quick n dirty run down.

P1 (C30, S40II, V50, C70II) – Requires unlocking by a specialist – it can be done remotely or with ModUnlock – the Hand Held portable CEM pin Decoder

P2 (S60, S80, V70II, XC70, XC90 ) – Requires unlocking by a specialist – it can be done remotely , facelift cars can also be done by a brute force method with a raspberry PI device or Vdash Vdd Dongle or with ModUnlock – the Hand Held portable CEM pin Decoder

P3 ( S60II, S60CC, V60, V60CC, XC60, V70III, XC70II, S80II) These can be done by a brute force decryption by Vdash or remotely by a specialist or with ModUnlock – the Hand Held portable CEM pin Decoder

P4/CMA (V40, V40CC) – These can be done by a brute force decryption by Vdash or remotely by a specialist

P5/SPA (XC90II, S90II, V90II, XC60II, V60II, S60III, XC40) – Requires unlocking by a specialist

Once Vdash has the Cem pin code you can start to make changes. Of course Vdash changes are a paid for service. You can see some of the prices here (https://d5t5.com/article/pricelist )

Vdash has a map of specialists that can help with this.

  1. Damn right it is!

I think there was a post on FB what was compatible with what, is there any way to check now? Have friends & fam with P2, P3 and SPA platform Volvos and I’m trying to figure out what works best. Laptop getting slow, looking for 2Go to hook up to my gaming PC.
