How to clean uninstall Vida2014d before attempting a re-installation

If VIDA has gone very wrong (Such as Vida monitor going orange and the log file saying waiting for Jboss) and it needs to be re-installed, its really important to FULLY clean it out before attempting the re-installation, or the re-installation will fail.

Just going to add/remove programs and choosing uninstall isn’t going to cut it!!! , so here is what you need to do.

  1. Go to control panel (win key + R then enter “control panel” click OK)
  2. Go to “Programs and Features”
  3. Find Vida and uninstall it, it takes a while.
  4. Find and uninstall all “Microsoft SQL Server” items, there is an order to it, just keep at it until they are all gone. IIRC starting with “Microsoft SQL server 20008 Setup” is best.
  5. Now we need to delete the left over folders, and you may need a reboot first to clear any file locks.
  6. Delete C:\Vida
  7. Delete any Volvo folders from “c:\Program files” or “c:\Program files (x86)”
  8. Now you can attempt re-installation.

  1. I have installed VIDA2014D, but only with the EN and RU languages. I now have the German language file. I was told that I cannot install it afterwards. I would have to uninstall VIDA2014D and reinstall it with German. That is a considerable effort. Is there another way?
