ITP / MOST security – and it’s removal!

So, Volvo kindly added security to the infotainment system on certain models so that you can not swap in donor hardware.

Certain markets this security is off by default , usually USA, but you can use Vida (any vida) to check if its on or off.

On P1 and P2 Models this is called MOST security (Media-Oriented Systems Transport) also know as SOM (Security on most, or “Security on Media-Oriented Systems Transport” ) .

On P3 its called ITP (Infotainment Theft Protection).

Essentially if you swap in any part of the infotainment system from donor hardware to replace a dead part or to make an upgrade, the system turns itself off after a few seconds.

So which models have it and how can we bypass it.

P1 – All models!

P2 – XC90

P3 – All models!

Here is a list of the software part numbers that you would use to switch it off with a genuine Vida Subscription.

SW P/N to turn ITP/SOM OFF:
P1 C70 30667249 NO LONGER AVAIALBE!!
P1 C30 30667249 NO LONGER AVAIALBE!!
P1 S40 30667249 NO LONGER AVAIALBE!!
P1 V50 30667249 NO LONGER AVAIALBE!!
P3 V70 30786292
P3 XC70 30786292
P3 S80 30786292
P2 XC90 8696093 NO LONGER AVAIALBE!!
P3 XC60 31268617
P3 S60 31268617
P3 V60 31268617
P3 V40 31382168

So, as you can See Volvo have F***KD P1 and P2 XC90 owners in the A** . The only way Volvo can help now is to sell you NEW parts and install them into the car. Which would be more than the value of most P1 or P2 cars. #megadicks

But all is not lost, there are always ways. So lets break down some of them.

P1 & P2 MOST delete

P1 and P2 , Certain reloads with VIDA reveal critical information like CEM and immobilizer pin codes. The IMMOB pin is required for programs like VDASH to be able to turn off MOST security.

Car electronics experts can read this information form the car’s modules on the bench. But thats above most peoples abilities. Defiantly mine!

So, the easy route is to get In touch with a Vdash Pro like myself to help get the immob pin , so we can feed it into Vdash then Vdash can do the MOST off.

Consult the dealer map to find one local to you. https://d5t5.com/partners

P3 ITP off (Excluding V40)

On P3 platform cars (excluding V40’s) , Vdash or ModUnlock can decode the CEM pin code, from there Vdash can decode the immobilizer pin. With the immobiliser pin Vdash can disable the ITP security. Wooo!

Of course, you can ask a main dealer, independent or Vdash pro to use VIDA to do the Job.

P3 ITP off – V40’s

This is the same as P1&P2 platform. Unfortunately, It is NOT possible to calculate the immobiliser pin code form the CEM pin.

So we have to do a module reload that has the immob PIN to capture it. then we can feed it into Vdash to do a ITP off. Such as CEM reload, ECM reload.

So, the easy route is to get In touch with a Vdash Pro like myself to help get the immob pin , so we can feed it into Vdash then Vdash can do the MOST off.

  1. Hi guys, I got a cem, pc on engine, cluster and abs module, key and ignition from a donor car, everything works and comes on, but it won’t crank or start and gives a messege that says immobiliser check manual. Should I also get the immobiliser module from the donor car?

  2. Hi, I’m wondering if you can help me with my 2005 XC70 HU-850 unit. I know they don’t last but it sounds great when working and I didn’t want to fit an aftermarket set up so I bought a 2nd hand unit (same model year) which works great apart from the buttons don’t illuminate. After reading countless threads it appears to be a common issue after replacing but nobody seems to have a fix…
